My very favorite luggage is the Samsonite Spinner type. I have owned many types over the years and have developed a very high standard. I actually received this luggage as a gift and of course was not convinced that it would be the one.
For me luggage can make or break my trip. I like to use the smallest bag possible, so one that has efficient use of interior space is key. If a large part of the interior is taken up with the handle or has non-removable clothes bags or pockets, that leaves less room for my stuff.
I normally take the carry-on version of this luggage which can expand if necessary. If I’m traveling by plane, the ability to walk off the plane with my luggage and not have to wait in baggage claim is a big plus. This method also eliminates the possibility that my luggage will be lost. The downside is that you must be in the first group to board so you will have room in the overhead bins. I can’t always count on nice guys to help store my bag and having a lightweight bag is a must.
If I have to check my bag, this luggage can withstand the gorillas who live in the baggage handling department. I like the blue color which stands out in the sea of black luggage on the baggage carousel.
Another plus for the bag is the spinner wheels allowing you to push the bag instead of pulling it. The one downside to the small wheels is that it doesn’t roll as easily on carpet.
I took this bag to London and it worked great. Having a small bag is a real plus for U.S. residents traveling overseas. Whether you travel by car, train or bus on your trip, room for luggage will be tight. If you will be traveling by train, there’s a good chance that you will need to get on and off the train in a hurry. Some stops only last a few minutes. I’ve literally had to throw my bag on or off the train at times. I couldn’t do that with a huge bag. You might also find that you have to carry luggage up stairs at some hotels as well.
I’d be interested in luggage you really like. Leave a comment with your favorites.
